进神退神者，爻之动而化也，化进化退，吉凶祸福有喜忌之分，所喜者宜于化进，所忌者宜化退神。

进神

亥化子、寅化卯、巳化午、申化酉、丑化辰、辰化未、未化戌

退神

子化亥、卯化寅、午化巳、酉化申、辰化丑、未化辰、戌化未

进神由此而进也，如春天花木枝繁叶茂。

退神由此而退也，如秋天花木渐渐凋零。

【断曰】：财爻持世化进神，巳火子动而生世，但因巳火化子水回头之克，必待午日冲去子水，午火又合世爻，其婚必成，果于午日允婚。或曰：间爻酉金鬼动，岂无阻耶？余曰：鬼化退神虽有被阻而无力也。

此卦世爻未土财化旬空，古以财化旬空，谓之动日月而空且不能进，此处未土无力，动散而化空，亦能进矣。

【断曰】：世化回头之克，官化退神，子孙化进神，三爻皆非吉象，大凶之兆，果于次年革职拿问。

古以动日月化空破谓之不退，此卦官子孙动休囚而化空破，进者进而退者竟退。

父化退神，父已归矣，世化进神而欲去，父爻生世一定相逢，必相会于未日，果得遇未日，应未日，戌父化未，又破又空至未日乃实空实破之日也，若执古法 动日月而化空破，谓之退其爻，岂有归来之日也。

财爻妻财持世化进，生意兴隆，甲戌日开张，财源茂盛，妻财持世化进神乃久远丰隆之象。余曰：代尔择甲戌日开张，管许大发，果开市于戌日，至今此店兴盛丰隆，此乃动日月而空，岂可谓之不进耶？

野鹤曰：夫进神之有四：动旺相而化旺，乘势而进，一也；动休囚而化休囚，待时而进，二也；动爻变爻有一而值衰，待旺相之日而进者，三也；动爻变爻有一而空破，待填实之日而进者，四也；退神之法有四：动旺相而化旺相或有日月动爻生扶，占近事得时而不退者一也；动休囚而化休囚及时而退者二也；动爻变爻有一而旺相待休囚之时而退者三也；动爻变爻有一而逢空破待填实之日而退者四也。

李我平曰：初看易冒，有大进不进不能进祗近理，后见动日月而化空破，无阶无路，谓之不进，故知谬也。动爻既临日月，逢空不空，逢破不破，况化空破？即日月如天，虽化空破，知浮云之掩日，实空实破之期即是云开雾散，司令当权，何以谓之不进？又曰：动值破散而变日月谓我位既失，何以得前？殊不知既动而破，自有实破之期，既动而散，自有填实之日，况化日月，名为化旺，后日填实愈旺强，何以谓之不前？
